The Current Landscape of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in India
At the moment, It is hard to say. While there are a lot of new entries in the market, it might just be a precaution to not fall too behind the competition.
1. Range Limitation:-
EVs are viable to drive within city limits but few offer the range to travel between cities. On average a EV would need 5-6 hours of charging to return on the same day from a city 300km away.
2. Infrastructure is still work in progress
Despite low penetration, there is not much space to park or even drive. But low penetration keeps India at the top of the promising market list.
3. Youngsters crave mobilty but they also want flexibilty. Hence, different ownership / usage models need to start evolving, especially with EVs.
4. The Government does seem to have process in place to convert 30% of all existing vehicles to EVs by 2030
A lot of things need to be in place to define a visible near to mid term scenario.
