Ola Electric has announced a plan to invest Rs 7,614 crore in India for the manufacturing of electric cars and EV batteries. The company has signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to construct a lithium-ion battery manufacturing unit with a capacity of 20 GW and produce electric cars. Along with vendor and supplier parks, these facilities will be part of an EV hub, which is set to be one of the largest in India. Spanning over 2,000 acres, the project is expected to create 3,111 jobs. Ola Electric aims to manufacture 1,40,000 electric cars per year, and its Battery Innovation Centre in Bangalore has developed a lithium-ion cell that will likely be mass-produced at the new facility. source HT
